FOUNDER

ABOUT ME

I’m Jorge Yanez, founder and creative director of BOYSDONTCRY — a brand born from the intersection of art, architecture, and emotion. I come from a creative lineage: my grandmother, a surrealist artist in Mexico City, and my father, an architect, shaped my passion for design and storytelling through space and form.

As a student of architecture and a visual artist, I work across mediums — primarily ink and pencil, sometimes oil or watercolor — channeling emotion into raw, chaotic imagery. What began as sketchbooks filled with drawings evolved into the SADBOY UNIVERSE, a visual language exploring mental health, identity, and the absurd realities of our generation.

BOYSDONTCRY was born from personal struggle and a need for vulnerability in a culture that often silences it. The brand reflects the collective experience of loss, disillusionment, and resilience shared by many in my generation — especially men navigating mental health and substance abuse challenges.

My love for clothing started with thrifting: finding stories in worn textures and imperfect fabrics. I saw the lack of spirit in mass-produced fashion and wanted to create apparel that carries emotion, honesty, and meaning — clothing that tells a story. Every piece merges art and architecture into wearable narrative, a reminder that there’s beauty in imperfection and strength in vulnerability.

MISSION

At BOYSDONTCRY, our mission is to break the silence around men’s mental health. We champion healing and resilience through community, movement, and unfiltered self-expression—empowering men to embrace vulnerability as strength.

Our SADBOY character and the immersive SADBOY UNIVERSE use art and irony to spark conversation, challenge stigma, and reflect the real challenges faced by our generation. Each design acts as a catalyst for dialogue, making mental health visible and urgent.

We put our values into action: 50% of all profits support local mental health organizations and rehabilitation centers, building pathways to support and recovery where it’s needed most.

BOYSDONTCRY exists to inspire connection, self-acceptance, and healing for those who need it mos
